Rosie MacLennan is an Olympic athlete for trampoline and recently one a gold medal in the Olympics for Canada. It was not only one of the gold medals won for Canada but it was also the first gold medal won for Canada in the 2012 Olympics. She has definitely influenced many people from young gymnasts too all the Canadian athletes in the Olympics.

Rosie has been on the trampoline since she was 7 years old. She started competing internationally and was the Canadian national woman’s champion in 2005,2009, and 2011. Her current coach is Dave Ross and her previous coach was Angelo Despostas. She was born on august 28th 1988 in king city, Ontario. The place that Rosie trains at is the sky Riders trampoline place. She is currently living in Toronto and has a major in the bachelor of physical education and health. At the Beijing 2008 Olympics she came 7th with her partner Karen Cockburn, she won a gold medal at the pan American games, second place at the trampoline world championships, gold at the Olympic test event, and finally the big gold medal in the London 2012 summer Olympics. As you can see Rosie is a very accomplished athlete.

Rosie MacLennan has influenced so many people across Canada with her big win at the 2012 London summer Olympics. Not only has she influenced all Canadians but also she has inspired young athletes to thrive. With thousands of young athletes watching her across Canada she influenced these children to work hard and to have faith in the sports that they play. I think this is a very positive influence on Canada. As long as Rosie MacLennan continues to set a positive example for Canada there will be a positive influence on young athletes. Rosie has set a standard for all athletes that do the trampoline and has given them a role model to look up too.

Rosie is not only a very accomplished athlete but she has also accomplished influencing the next generations of athletes too thrive in what they do. As Rosie always says “focus on what you can control, have faith in what you don’t”.

Recently there have been many wild fires in Colorado and these wild fires are threatening the water supplies. I think this issue needs to be resolved its threatening are water supply and animals water supply. In years to come I think this will affect our water source and human water activity. This issue definitely needs to be stopped I think we need to protect our water sources more so they aren’t threatened by the fires. Another way we can maybe use less water is by using more of the liquid in fire extinguisher instead of straight water. I think in the end we can solve this problem.

I think these 3 stories really connect to each other. In the LA times there is a story about the US army killing the wrong people. They use drones and when they see people that look very suspicious they shoot them but most of the time they kill the wrong people. I think this connects to the sniper and pat Tillman story because in the sniper he kills the wrong person, his brother. In Pat Tillman they shoot the wrong person witch ends up in his death! In all stories they end up all killing the wrong person.

The Sniper

In the stories “Sniper” and Pat Tillman’s death, they both had a large connection. In both short stories the biggest connection is; the relationships with all the main characters family are torn apart from the wars. In “Sniper” his relationship with his brother was destroyed because they were fighting against each other. I think when your fighting against your brother it digs trenches between the two in reality and mentally. In the story of Pat Tellman’s death, when he leaves I think everyone is devastated that he is leaving and just thought of they might never see him again. Throughout the war I think the relationships between the family fades. In all I think the big connection is both the sniper and pat went to war there relationships with their families were destroyed.

I chose a song called “hero of war” that I think connects to both of the stories. This song reminds me a lot of the story of pat Tillman’s the most. I think it connects to pat Tillman because this song expresses how much this man wants to serve his country and is willing to leave his family to serve his country. I think this connects to the “sniper” because they both are so willing to serve their country that they will leave their family and the sniper will even fight against his brother. The stories and the song I think have a huge connection between each other.

The story of Courtney and Margot I think are extremely similar. One reason I think they are similar is because the both of them weren’t stood up for. Secondly I think there a like is because the both of them didn’t want to go to school because they were being picked on so bad. It also hurt both their families and with Margot it got so bad hat they were considering moving back to earth. I think this bullying should be stopped both these girls have been through so much and it is terrible.

People discriminate for many different reasons. I think one reason people bully is because they are jealous of the person. The next reason I think people bully is because they have been bullied before and they take out all their anger and years of bullying out on one person. The last reason I think people bully is because I think the bullies feel just because they have been bullied someone else has to be bullied too. When I was in grade 3 one of my really good friends was picked on because she was tall, very pretty, and the bully was jealous of her so she picked on my friend. In the end the bullying stopped and she apologized.

I have chosen the song mean by Taylor Swift to compare with “all summer in a day”.  I think these to texts are very similar they were obviously both bullied very harshly; the bullies made them both feel like they didn’t matter and that they were nothing. I think the difference between the two characters is that Taylor stood up for herself in the song and Margot did not stand up for herself. The song describes how Taylor was pushed around and bullied. In “all summer in a day” describes how Margot was bullied at her school for her differences. I think both of these stories are very similar and are very sad!
